The following advice applies to every gamebook in the Choose Your Path series and should help improve your chances of success. That said, every adventure is designed to be a challenge, and obtaining a flawless victory is never easy.

While DEADLY ENCOUNTERS can only be resolved via combat, escaping a HOSTILE ENCOUNTER always remains an option. Fighting every enemy you encounter merely for MERIT, is rarely a recipe for success.
Your Chosen Path offers additional opportunities to gain MERIT. Take advantage of these whenever possible.
When FATE DECIDES your next destination, you can spend MERIT to determine your route. This is especially useful when knowledge gained from previous playthroughs has alerted you to the dangers that lie ahead.
You are never forced to search for RANDOM LOOT. If the items on offer don’t interest you or you feel they don’t warrant the risk, simply pass them by and roll the die to discover your next destination. This not only prevents you from picking up cursed items, it will save you valuable MERIT.
To obtain a flawless victory, you’ll need to defeat the quest’s LEGENDARY BOSS and accumulate 120 (unspent) MERITS. Yet before either can be achieved, you must first survive to the end of your adventure. This daunting task becomes far easier if you’re prepared to spend the MERIT you’ve earned throughout your adventure.
